Along with his fellow enlisted men and the nurses stationed at a hospital in postwar France, Private Al Hogan (Jack Lemmon) has grown bored. To remedy this problem and jumpstart a romance with Army Nurse Lt. Betty Bixby (Kathryn Grant), Hogan plans to host a Mad Ball.
